Neurological Reorganization Press Release

For Immediate Release:

Announcing Canada’s First Two NR Practitioners

Whitby, ON, July 17, 2018 – NeuroVision Therapy today announced Canada’s first two Certified Neurological Reorganization (NR) Practitioners, Alexandra Lily and Dr. Coralee Mueller.

Certified through the National Neurological Reorganization Practitioners Association, Lily and Dr. Mueller use neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to restructure itself by forming new neural connections – to reorganize the brain by providing individualized Neurological Reorganization programs to both children and adults. This program can enhance emotions, behaviours, motor skills, and learning abilities.

“Neurological Reorganization is a non-invasive, drug-free, movement-based program that uses the developmental sequence. This is a sequence composed of mobility, sensory, vestibular and reflex stimulation, that every unimpeded, unimpaired infant, goes through to optimize their neurology,” explains Dr. Mueller, Optometrist and founder of NeuroVision Therapy, a clinic that treats vision by understanding that the visual process is neurological. “By replicating this same developmental sequence, we can help individuals maximize their potential.”

Clients often come to NeuroVision Therapy with diagnoses such as:

  • ADD and ADHD

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Bonding and Attachment Disorders, including PTSD, Anxiety Disorders and Reactive Attachment Disorders

  • Head injuries and concussions

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Developmental delays and learning challenges

  • Sensory processing disorder

  • Auditory processing disorder

  • Oppositional Defiance Disorder and related behaviour disorders, amongst other issues

The mother of a current NeuroVision Therapy client has already seen the difference that NR can make in a person’s life.

“NR has changed my daughter’s life,” exclaims parent, Jill Moore. “At the age of 10 she was unable to ride a bike and follow instructions in a group class. Reading and math were also a struggle. After starting NR, she is happily riding her bike, successfully learned to skate in a group class and amazing us every day with her reading and math skills!”

The NR program helps individuals learn about what may be the root cause of their issues, and how to address them.

“We do not treat ‘labels’,” adds Lily. “We work with individuals who have any form or degree of developmental delay or damage to the central nervous system and help them function to the best of their ability.”

“As Dr. Mueller pointed out, the developmental sequence is composed of mobility, sensory vestibular and reflex stimulation. So, for example, in terms of mobility, we have clients crawl on their tummies, as this activity helps to develop things like the ability to track words from left to right across a page, a skill used when reading,” explains Lily. “Another mobility activity would be a client crawling on their hands and knees as crawling helps develop eye teaming – both eyes working together in a coordinated way – which is needed for attention, focus and reading comprehension. Vestibular stimulation boosts visual motor skills, assists in balance, and stimulates the cerebellum. Clients may be asked to spin, roll or bounce. Reflex stimulation includes whole body reflexive movement patterns, which are necessary to grow new connections in the brain. These are the same patterns in which an infant should undergo to ensure strong neurological development to support growth and learning in later years.

The NR program is now offered at NeuroVision Therapy to augment their Optometric Vision Therapy programs which Dr. Mueller has been providing since 2011.

NeuroVision Therapy

NeuroVision Therapy has provided Optometric Vision Therapy for patients of all ages since September 2016. Individualized therapy programs are designed to treat: learning related vision problems, strabismus, and amblyopia as well as post-trauma vision syndrome resulting from acquired brain injuries and concussions.
